Scott D. Allen, CPA
Scott and his wife, Mary Ellen, moved to Durango, Colorado in 2019 after merging with Ken Temple & Associates and Andrews Financial Services to form Temple Allen & Associates LLC.
Scott studied Accounting at Montana State University and began his career with KPMG in Midland, Texas. Over the next five years, Scott immersed himself in the Oil and Gas and Construction industries. In 1993, a career move took Scott to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he began working at McGladrey & Pullen (now RSM).
Eventually, he was called back to Texas to work in the oil and gas industry at Pioneer Natural Resources as Tax Manager. In 2000, Scott decided to go back to school to earn his Master of Business Administration degree at Texas Christian University. Since graduating with his MBA in 2002, Scott successfully worked as a CPA in the Dallas/Fort Worth area offering tax compliance and tax planning, business consulting, and CFO/Controller services to his clients.
During his time away from the office, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and their four rescue dogs. He also enjoys hiking, fishing, reading and cooking. Scott’s two adult children, who live in Texas, look forward to visiting soon.
Chris Johnson, CPA
Chris is a true native of Durango with strong local family roots. She attended Fort Lewis College and graduated Summa Cum Laude. After graduation Chris spent a few years in the San Diego area while her husband served in the US Navy.
Chris is experienced in business tax preparation and planning for medical, retail and construction clients as well as individual tax planning and preparation.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys reading, gardening, hiking and camping in the Four Corners area with her husband Tony and her sons.
Dillon Washburn, CPA
After spending four years in New Castle, Colorado, Dillon moved back to Durango, Colorado in June 2020 to be closer to family and enjoy what Durango offered him while he attended Fort Lewis College.
Dillon graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting degree, earning the distinction Summa Cum Laude, while playing golf on the college golf team from 2011-2016. He attained his CPA license in January of 2018 while working in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Dillon’s area of expertise lies within individual tax, but has experience in business, gift, and trust tax. Dillon is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.
During his time away from the office, Dillon enjoys spending time golfing at Dalton Ranch Golf Club with his girlfriend and her father. He continues to pursue qualifying for the United States Golf Association Amateur Championship and Mid-Amateur Championship that is held once a year for amateur golfers across the United States.
Mary Ellen Allen, Administrator
Mary Ellen, born and raised in Texas, moved with her husband, Scott, to Durango, Colorado in 2019 to manage the office of Temple Allen & Associates LLC.
Mary Ellen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Park University in Parkville, Missouri in 1991. While working full-time in healthcare management, she then went on to complete a Master of Business Administration degree at The University of Texas at Arlington in 1998. Wanting a new challenge, she then decided to begin a 20+ year career as a “Right Hand” to a CEO/Managing Partner/Chairman of the Board for various industries. She not only sharpened her communication and organizational skills, but also learned a great deal about managing a business.
In her free time, Mary Ellen enjoys spending time with Scott and their four rescue dogs, reading, hiking and enjoying getting to know the people and places in her new home of beautiful Durango.
